Temple of Doom
A cult leader stands on the edge of a fiery pit in an underground stone temple, a still-beating heart in his hand. A crowd of devotees look on from across a divide. Behind him a trap door is set into the floor, cult henchmen all around one working a lever and wheel. A man is locked in a cage suspended over the trap door on long chains. It opens, a lava pit is revealed, and the cage is lowered in. The cult leader raises his fist and the heart catches fire.
Temple of Doom
Kali ma, Kali ma SHAKTI-DE!
Thuggi cult leader Mola Ram removes a man's heart with his bare hands. The victim, kept alive through the power of dark magic, is strapped into a cage and lowered into a fiery pit.
As he meets his demise, his still-beating heart ignites in Mola Ram's outstretched hand.
Camp as Christmas, ridiculously elaborate, and all round good clean family fun. Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, 1984. Rated PG.
